Nutan Mahavidyalaya, Selu was established on June 15, 1968, in the premises of Nutan Vidyalaya, Selu. In a short span of time, the college has attained a distinguished status at the state level in Maharashtra. Nutan Vidyalaya Shikshan Sanstha, founded in 1939 by the Freedom Fighters of Sailu under the guidance of Brahmibuth Swami Ramanand Teerth, played a significant role in India's freedom struggle, particularly in Marathwada Mukti Sangram. The college follows Gandhian principles and ideals. Nutan Vidyalaya Shikshan Sanstha is a pioneering institution offering quality education from pre-primary (KG) to post-graduate (PG) levels in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra. Recently, it celebrated its Platinum Jubilee Year, marking 75 years of remarkable achievements. The college relocated to a new building on Jintoor Road, Selu, on June 15, 1970. A notable moment for the college was when Swami Ramanand Teerth visited during the construction of this new facility. Accredited by NAAC with a 'B' Grade in 2003 and re-accredited in 2013, the college has completed its third cycle with a 'B+' grade. It boasts highly qualified faculty, excellent infrastructure, disciplined environment, and competent administration, resulting in commendable outcomes across all disciplines. The college operates a Business Incubation Center, encouraging students to explore startup ideas. As a result, it has initiated startups in various sectors including rosary products, vermicompost, bouquets, medicinal plant nursery, and organic vegetable farming within the premises of the college girls' hostel.

The college offers various add-on courses to enhance students' employability and implements innovative practices such as Parents Association, Alumni Association, Earn and Learn scheme, Career Guidance and Counseling Cell, Competitive Examination Classes (MPSC/UPSC) etc. The NSS unit fosters a sense of social responsibility among students, while the Gunvanta Sanman honors meritorious students. With support from the Alumni Association and UGC grants, the college has developed state-of-the-art facilities like Computer Labs, Language Lab, Mathematics Lab, Network Resource Center, and Internet Lab, contributing to the enhancement of technical skills among students and staff alike.
